Ashwathama Brahmashira Chakra Narayana

Ashwatthama and the Brahmashira Astra
  • Possession: As the son of Dronacharya and an incarnation of Shiva, Ashwatthama was entrusted with the most powerful celestial weapons, including the Brahmastra and its superior form, the Brahmashira astra.
  • Misuse: After the war, driven by rage over his father's death, Ashwatthama launched the Brahmashira astra at the Pandavas. When Arjuna countered it with his own Brahmashira, sages intervened, demanding both withdraw their weapons.
  • The Curse: Unlike Arjuna, Ashwatthama did not know how to withdraw the weapon, so he directed it to destroy the unborn child of Uttara (Parikshit) to end the Pandava lineage.
  • Krishna's Intervention: Lord Krishna saved the child, cursed Ashwatthama to wander the earth for thousands of years with wounds that would never heal, and took the precious gem from his forehead.
Ashwatthama and the Narayanastra
  • Usage: After Dronacharya's death, an enraged Ashwatthama invoked the Narayanastra on the 15th day of the war against the Pandava army.
  • The Weapon: The Narayanastra is a personal weapon of Lord Vishnu, creating a massive, fiery destruction that becomes more intense the more it is resisted.
  • Neutralization: Krishna, knowing the weapon's nature, advised the Pandavas and their army to lay down their weapons and surrender completely. Bhima refused initially but was forced to surrender by Krishna, neutralizing the weapon.
Ashwatthama and the Sudarshan Chakra (Narayan)
  • Desire for Power: Before the war's end, seeking ultimate power, Ashwatthama visited Lord Krishna and asked for the Sudarshan Chakra, offering his Brahmashira in return.
  • Failed Attempt: Krishna permitted him to try. Ashwatthama, despite his power, could not lift the Sudarshan Chakra, realizing the supreme nature of Krishna (Narayana).
